OUR DEDICATED DADS
HAPPY FEET’ the movie which moved many hearts to a wonderful world of a loving and caring penguin dad , made me think as to how, in nature the parenting process is balanced between the two different genders.Though father’s day honors the dedicated human dad, one can’t ignore the animal species, whose endearing dads are amazingly the most terrible to the most gentle and courageous nature.
Raising kids is not always the responsibility of mothers, but in the animal world there are some fathers who show tremendous efforts in providing what is best when it comes to parenting.
It is very interesting to know such animal instincts. There are a lot of articles in the Internet but I would like to share with you, which I feel would be interesting to you.
MY PROUD DAD WHO PROTECTS THE PRIDE
LION : Lions have better eyesight than human, can survey intruders coming to his territory and, as a born fighter they will surely fight it out to death just to protect their prides.
MY DILIGENT DAD WHO IS PLAYFUL
MALE RED FOX : A Very Diligent, Loving, and Protective Father providing his mate with food every four to six hours after delivery of kids until she can finally leave the den and start hunting again on her own.He also truly loves playing with his kids.
MY DAD WHO GUARDS ME
SIAMESE FIGHTING FISH : When the mother lays her eggs, the father catches them in his mouth, then drops them into a nest he has prepared. He guards the nest and protects the baby fish when they hatch.
MY DAD WHO STARVES TO SAVE ME
EMPEROR PENGUIN: The male balances the egg on his feet in subzero weather, often forced to huddle together with other dads for warmth until their chicks hatch. Despite not having eaten for months, it's Dad who provides the baby's first meal — a milky-type substance to sustain them.
MY DAD WHO BLOWS YOU TO PROTECT ME
SWAN : A swan mates for life .He is both a devoted father and husband. He has been known to use a blow from the “knucklebone” of his wing to defend his family. His blow is said to be strong enough to break a man’s arm according to Donald and Louise Pattie in “Legend with Wings.”
MY DAD WHO IS BOTH FATHER & MOTHER TO ME
SEAHORSE : A monogamous creature who actually gets pregnant, trans-gendered.The female deposits her eggs in the male's specialized pouch, and the male carries up to 2,000 babies during its 10- to 25-day pregnancy.
MY DAD WHO ACTS AS MIDWIFE
MARMOSETS : Male marmosets in South America not only carry, feed, and groom their twin babies, they may even act as "midwives" during birth, grooming and licking the newborns.
MY DAD WHO MAKES ME WET TO SURVIVE
THE BARKING FROG : The frog named for its throaty, dog-like call guards his brood after the female lays her eggs under rocks or logs in the U.S. Southwest. The frog hangs out by the eggs for several weeks, wetting the eggs with his urine if they dry out.
MY DAD WHO MAKES MY FOOD SEMISOLID AND FEEDS ME
GOLDEN JACKAL : The dad feeds his kids with regurgitated food and never leaves the partner, mates for life.
MY DAD WHO TAKES ME ON A PIGGY BACK RIDE
RHEA : A flightless South American bird about the same size as an emu. The father birds incubate the eggs, guard the nests, and feed their young ,and even take the young ones on a piggy back ride until they're fully grown.
Yes,what is said is right !
Most male species can become father but only few become a Dad !!
