SAVE THEM FROM SUMMER   (PART – II)

When the environmental temperature is on the raise and above normal, our pets are more prone to heat strokes. Many dog owners who fret about their pet’s health would give frequent baths. But it would only dry out the natural sebaceous oil in the skin, which actually protects them from radiation and skin infections. Its good to Groom daily, a haircut during summer for furry friends, and dogs be given a bath once in 15 days.
Some breeds like GSD are prone for nose bleed, wounds if any to be treated properly to avoid maggot infection. Dogs must be fed during the cooler time of the day to avoid indigestion problems.
Deadly mosquito-borne diseases such as heartworm infections are on the rise in domestic pets. Biting insects are the most common summer time pet complaints. Fleas, ticks and mosquitoes can cause problems for our pet, and pets are also vulnerable to harm from bees, wasps and ants.
Geranium, citronella and lemongrass, these essential oils are proven to repel mosquitoes, fleas and ticks without the use of harmful chemicals found in flea collar.
Every year, countless dogs die after overheating inside parked cars. On a relatively mild 70-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can reach 120 degrees in minutes, leaving your dog in the car could lead to a tragedy.
Spraying water on bird cages and providing them B complex supplement would help combat sunstroke.
Fish in aquarium, breeds like red sword tails, golden Severna and mollies need more attention.Tanks with artificial plants where there is no natural environment and lack of symbiotic relationship requires change of water at least weekly once.
Cattle and farm animals to be kept in a well-ventilated sheds.  Zoo animals need spraying of water.
Animals like the hippopotamus, pig, rhino, elephant which lack the sweat glands need more care and are to be provided with water pool and tanks.
Albino animals, fury and long coat animals, and animals that lack  melanin pigments, like our liver nose Labradors  need extraordinary care against heat radiation.
