A Beautiful Book on Asian Elephants

They have the resilience to survive and adapt themselves to the changing times.

I have come across a beautiful book on Elephants that describes that the relationship between elephants and people in Asia over thousands of years is an unique one.
The book traces the evolving role and significance of the Asian elephant in relation to humankind through the ages, from their earliest origins to the present.
The author said solutions to protect this intelligent and beautiful animal would not be possible without understanding its historical relationship with the humans. The elephant is a protected animal, which was forced to live a life of decorated majesty. Though people worship the animal, no one had entirely understood it. This book is not an art history, but rather an ecological and cultural history of the Asian elephant.
This book is a must have in the elephant lover’s library.
Hats off to  Dr. Raman Sukumar, Professor and Chairman, Centre for Ecological Sciences Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore for his wonderful work.
